On our farm, all animals are either free ranged, day ranged or moved in portable pens. Our animals are treated humanely and with respect. They are raised in situations where they can express the natural actions that they instinctively need to do. Our chickens are raised outside in the grass where they can scratch in the ground and chase bugs. Our pigs are raised outside in clean are with room to move about and root up the ground. Our lambs are raise outside and thrive on grass like ruminants should. Our geese are ranged all over the farm to help control grass and wees. The have lots of room to move about and make a lot of noise as geese like to do.
Our poultry is processed on-site so there is no long, stressful, hot/cold/windy transport to a centralized processing facility. Our pigs and lamb are processed at our small, local processor so they too are not subjected to the rigors of a long, stressful trip.
These methods take more time and effort per animal compared to industrial faming methods, but we feel that these methods produce a superior final product.
